Artists brighten wards for patients

Posted on January 17, 2012

Local artists have brightened the stay at Bundaberg Hospital’s new rehabilitation ward with donation of artworks.

Artists Ilma Daniels, Annette Pearce, Robyn Rae and Allan Jacobsen visit the Rehabilitation Ward to view the paintings.

Several months ago the Bundaberg Health Services Foundation put a call out to local art groups, the Bundaberg Regional Art Centre and art stores seeking works to hang in the new expanded ward and in allied health services.

Bundaberg Health Services Foundation chairman Janet Tallon said 25 pieces of artwork were donated from eight local artists.

“The paintings certainly complement the new rehabilitation ward which has expanded into a more modern and relaxed environment,’’ Mrs Tallon said.

“The addition of the artwork makes it even more homely and are sure to be a talking point for patients and visitors. We are incredibly grateful for the donations.’’

Some of the artists took a tour of the new building recently to see how their works of art were now bringing joy to the many patients who use the new areas.

The Foundation is a not-for profit organisation that raises funds to provide the extras for patients accessing services at Bundaberg Hospital, this includes non-government funded medical equipment.
