Council donated $20,000 to help patients

Posted on October 17, 2012

Bundaberg Hospital patients will enjoy an easy ride from the new car park to the facility after the Bundaberg Health Services Foundation received $20,000 raised from the 2012 Mayor’s Charity Ball.

Acting Mayor David Batt said the foundation, which is the fundraising arm of the Bundaberg Hospital, had told the council two golf carts were needed to pick up less mobile patients from the car park.

“The carts will provide a quick and convenient manner for elderly, disabled and disadvantaged patients and visitors who may otherwise find it difficult to walk to the hospital,” Cr Batt said.

Foundation chairwoman Janet Tallon said they were extremely grateful for the donation.

“Our thanks must go to the council for putting on such an excellent event,” she said.

“We are delighted that the funds we received will allow for the purchase of one of these state-of-the-art patient transporters.”

Ms Tallon said management staff would now choose which carts to buy.
