Sick children at Bundaberg Hospital will benefit from a $19,302.25 donation from Sea FM’s recent Give Me Five For Kids fundraiser held in June.
The money was presented to the Bundaberg Health Services Foundation during a special presentation on the children’s ward today (Thursday, August 18).
Health Services Foundation chairman Janet Tallon congratulated the team from Sea FM on this month-long fundraiser particularly in a difficult fundraising climate.
“This is $7000 more than what was raised last year, all their hard work and effort is commendable,’’ Mrs Tallon said. “However the community and businesses that got behind this project also should be congratulated.
“The Foundation adopted a new vision statement last year … Local People Helping Local Patients … and that is exactly has occurred here.’’
All money will stay local and will assist children seen at Bundaberg Hospital – not only in the paediatric ward but also a number of other departments including occupational therapy, speech therapy, Transition to School Development Assessment Team, Physiotherapy and Community Child Health.
This year’s wish list includes a range of equipment (non-government funded), from paediatric home medical aids, handheld thermometers, exercise mats, intravenous medical aids, and a range of assessment tools to help children with a variety of conditions at Bundaberg Hospital.
The Bundaberg Health Services Foundation was established in 1999 as the fundraising arm of the Bundaberg Hospital and is now co-ordinating all community donations to Bundaberg Hospital.
