A local service club has assisted patients at Bundaberg Hospital Emergency Department well into the future with a recent donation of equipment.
North Bundaberg Lions Club has donated a new walking frame to the ward through the Bundaberg Health Services Foundation.
The Foundation is the fundraising arm at Bundaberg Hospital and helps provide the extras, non-government funded equipment, to help local patients.
The Club approached the Foundation after it received a letter from a lady who had been a patient in the ward and had been unable to take her own walker when she was admitted. The purchase of this new walker, at a price of $200, will now assist the Department in helping those patients who require a walker – previously they had to borrow from other hospital wards.
Foundation Manager Maria Burnet said the hospital was very grateful for this donation which will of course make a stay for these patients more comfortable.
Community and Service Clubs wishing to help, just like North Bundaberg Lions, with a donation to help local patients should contact the Foundation on 4150 2863.
